University Council

The only sitting member of the University of Canterbury Council to stand for re-elec-tion in the court of convocation election topped the poll with a margin of more than 300 votes. Mr T. H. McCombs; Chancellor of the university, gained 2011 votes in the election to decide which of the candidates would take the two available seats. The other successful candidate was Mr D.. R. Wilson, a former university chaplain. Professor A. Crowther, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the university, was re-elected unopposed as a professorial board representative on the council.
