Fish Industry Scholarship
The Fishing Industry Board is calling for applications from young fishermen for this year’s Mobil Fishing Industry Scholarship, which will enable the winner to spend nine months as a residential student at the College of Fisheries, Navigation, Electronics and Marine Engineering, St John's, Newfoundland.
The winner’s course will include fishing methods, food technology, fish processing and storage, navigation methods and equipment and practical work on the college’s two vessels and on commercial fishing vessels. The award also provides for the winner to visit Britain and possibly the Continent to study aspects of the fishing industry. Applications for the scholarship, which is financed jointly by Mobil Oil (N.Z.) Ltd, and the Fishing Industry Board, will close on Septem ber 1.
