H. R. PEERS LIBRARY
The new library at the Hagley High School will be named the H. R. Peers Library as a tribute to the chairman of the board of governors.
This was decided at a meeting of the board on the recommendation on the headmaster (Mr T. R. Richards) who said that during his 20 years on the board--15 of them as chairman—Mr Peers had often quietly donated cartons of books to the school.
Confirmation was given of the appointment of Mr H. A. Ricketts as woodwork teacher in place of Mr E. J. McNeilly who has retired. Mr Richards said there were nine or 10 applicants for the position.
