‘Free Cocoa Victory'

LONDON, May 15. Britain’s 55,000 student nurses won a “free cocoa at bedtime” victory yesterday, but lost their real battle for money to pay for their meals.
The girls, in a well-public-ised campaign, had been fighting for a meal allowance. But yesterday, the committee which rules on such requests, declined it Instead, it offered the nurses a £6 a year allowance to pay for drinks such as cocoa and tea at work, and an £lB a year reduction In the cost of their lodging. A spokesman for the nurses said: “We will go on fighting.”
