Unsightly Stains
Soot and stain caused by rusting iron leave stone in an unsightly condition but a highly satisfactory washing solution can be made. Boil one and a half bars of soap in a bucket of water until all the soap has dissolved. To this add fine sand and
mix to the consistency of putty. Five teaspoons of ammonia should be added while stirring. •Use a stiff scrubbing brush to scrub the stone work with the mixture then wash it down with the hose.
