DRUNK IN CHARGE
Gaol Sentence Imposed

DUNEDIN, May 12. A Christchurch commercial traveller, George Vivian Sheehy, aged 49. who pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk in charge and of having excessive alcohol in his blood, was today, sentenced to 10 days gaol and disqualified from driving for three years. Sheehy appeared before Mr J. D. Murray, S.M., in the Dunedin Magistrate’s Court. Sergeant M. J. Peterson said that at 12.20 a.m. on Friday, May 2, Sheehy brought his car to a sudden stop behind a correctly parked truck. He reversed and turned into an alley and parked, narrowly missing a parked car. His eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred, Mr Peterson said.
