Debate Won By Oxford
The Oxford Country Giris’ Club has won the South Island final of the national debating contest. The team took the affirmative side against South Taieri and won. by 23 points. The subject was: “That New Zealanders are appreciative of culture.”,
The Oxford girls, Mesdames Janice Skurr, Joan Warner and Julie Philpott, will now compete against a North Island team when the Dominion finals are held in ? Christchurch on June 11/ at the twenty-first anniversary conference of New Zealand Country Girls’ Clubs. The team will take the affirmative again, and the subject is: "That the elimination of all forms of racial prejudice is possible in the society of the future.” The Oxford team won the national finals in 1967.
