Result Of Dare, Court Told
(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, May 12. Francis Anthony Hall, aged 34, a Turangi truck driver, set fire to the redoubt at Fort Galatea on the eve of centennial celebrations as the result of a dare, the Taupo Magistrate’s Court was told today. Hall, who appeared on a charge of getting fire to the redoubt on May 2, pleaded guilty and was remanded by Mr G. J. Donne, S.M., until May 22 for sentence. Sergeant T. A. Marson said Hall had realised it was a foolish action, and had telephoned the Murupara Fire Brigade. It was then too late to save the redoubt.
