Superannuation
Sir,—Another increase has been granted by the Government to social security beneficiaries, and rightly so. The purchasing power of their allowances has been recognised as having shrunk in relation to the rising cost of living. But what of the superannuitants, particularly those having retired some years ago? They have paid into both superannuation and social security, but of course are entitled to one only. The purchasing power of their allowance has also dwindled and dwindled over the years, yet the Government, although making promises, has done nothing yet to improve their lot Surely the Government’s example should be to give at least its ex-servants a fair deal; or are they just not interested any longer in them? —Yours, etc., LONG OVERDUE.
