The Russian giant panda r An-An will return to Moscow i on May 21, having failed to I mate with the London Zoo’s giant panda Chi-Chi. I An-An arrived in London last August In spite of the ' application of hormones, he > declined to sustain interest i in Chi-Chi.
A London Zoo spokesman said: “Although the primary object of An-An’s visit to London has not been achieved, the uiuque opportunity of observing two giant pandas together has been presented —an opportunity which may never occur again." The spokesman added: “We are very sad to say that the saga between these two animals is possibly over. But it may not mean the end of the whole panda story, because they have been notably unpredictable.”
