League
Nine of the 10 Social Credit candidates in Canterbury had been selected by their branch committees, and although one or two nominations might have to be endorsed by the Dominion council, the present selections were likely to stand for Parliament, the president of the Canterbury regional council of the Social Credit Political League (Mr J. U. Barclay) said yesterday. The candidate for Christchurch Central was expected to be announced within the next two months.
The candidates are:—Ashburton, Mr L. C. Lisle, a hotel proprietor; Avon, Mr I. W. W. Barrow, a market gardener; Lyttelton, Mr T. M. Huggins, a departmental manager: Rangiora, Mrs L. L. Moore, a drama tutor and judge; Papanui, Mr J. 6. Matthews, a costing clerk; Riccarton, Mr C. E. Cullen, an electrician; St Albans, Mr J. S. Fountain, a managing director; Syden--1 ham, Mr J. Pounsford. a freezing worker; Wigram, Mr M. McConnell, a butcher.
