Demand for salad vegetables fell again at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday. Celery dropped from Monday s price of 30c to 70c a case, to 20c to 40c a case; lettuces fell 20c, from up to 70c a case, to up to 50c a case. Carrots dropped from 80c to $1.20 a case on Monday, to 50c to $1 a case. Other vegetables met a stronger demand. Cabbages and potatoes both rose 10c from Monday’s prices, and pumpkins fetched a price $1.20 dearer than the $1 to $2.50 reached on Monday.
