Blue Defaulter Impressive

Any doubts about Blue Defaulter were dispeled at Woodville yesterday when the big gelding schooled in proficient style over two rounds of the steeplechase country. He was clearly superior to Vita Boy and BUI Bayley, which accompanied Aim. Blue Defaulter, which had dropped his rider in the Capital Steeplechase at Trentham. measured his fences well and jumped every one the same. The trainer, E. Roplha, said there was a doubt about a start at Otaki for Bill- Bailey, although there Is nothing amiss with him. Chapel Belle, booked to go north for the Founders’ Plate, ran over about nine furlongs on the course proper. She gathered speed passing the seven and galloped the last six in 1:31 with Ayub Khan. They finished together, with Ayub Khan appearing to be going every bit as well as his stablemate. They ran the final three tn 41 2-5. Conditions were heavy at Woodville and similar going at Otaki this week-end might cause several Woodville runners to be Withdrawn. One in this category is Pallas Athena, which ran five in 1.7 with Cull Doon.
