WALLABY’S RETURN

1958 Win Recalled The former Australian fullback, Brother Terence Curley, will return to the scene of one of the triumphs of his international Rugby career when he arrives in Christchurch with the St Mary's College team from Brisbane today. The visiting side, which is coached by Brother Curley, will play Xavier College tomorrow afternoon. At the age of 20, Brother Curley toured New Zealand with the 1958 Wallabies and played a leading role in his side’s shock 6-3 victory against the All Blacks in the second test at Lancaster Park. Contemporary reports gave him a large share of the credit for Australia’s win. He played in ail but one of the touring team’s 13 matches, and was the leading scorer with 47 points. After the tour he retired to enter a Marist Brothers’ order.

His team, which is playing New Zealand under the name of Ashgrove, will be one of two Australian schoolboy sides appearing in Christchurch at the week-end.

The other is the Cranbrook School first XV, from Sydney, which will play St Andrew's College tomorrow and Linwood High School on Tuesday.
