POISON GAS DISPOSAL
Supply May Be Dumped At Sea (N.Z.P.A.Reutir— Copyright) WASHINGTON, May 8. The United States Army said yesterday it was considering dumping some 27,000 tons of obsolete poison gas in the Atlantic Ocean. A Pentagon spokesman said the poison was mostly mustard and nerve gas left over from World War 11. Under the plans being studied, the poison gas would be encased in steel or concrete cylinders, and dumped into the Atlantic about 250 miles off the east coast of the United States, in three to six months time. Plans were not final and the matter was still under review, the spokesman added.
