Obituary.
Mrs M. Minifie Mrs Marion Minifie died at Timaru recently. She was 92. Born at Temuka, she was both a pupil and teacher at the Temuka District High School. Mrs Minifie (nee Marion McCaskill) was associated with the Trinity Presbyterian Church and, for about 13 years, was secretary of the Timaru Ladies' Golf Club. A contemporary of Anthony Wilding while attending the University of Canterbury, Mrs Minifie played tennis for the university, and also represented South Canterbury. She was also a keen tramper and climber, and was one of the first women to climb Mount Malte Brun (10,421 ft in 1900. Mrs Minifie was a former president of both the Kia Toa and Timaru women's bowling clubs. At the time of her death she was patroness of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, with which she was connected for more than 50 years. She was secretarytreasurer in 1924. Mrs Minifie is survived by her son, Mr Charles Minifie (Timaru).
