WARNING TO BUILDERS
Air Vents Not Adequate Concern at many instances of inadequate sub-floor ventilation in buildings is expressed in a circular to master builders from ' the Christchurch Metropolitan Local Body Engineers' Committee. The committee’s secretary (Mr E. Hughes) said yesterday that the attention of builders had been drawn to the standard building code requirement of a half square inch of unobstructed air space for each square foot of ground floor. Builders were also remin- : ded that there must be adequate through ventilation, and that where terraces were built, vents should pass through to give the ventilation. Concrete ventilators should be checked to see that they were not obstructed.
