SHARE PRICES STILL HIGH IN RESILIENT MARKET

The New Zealand sharemarket showed resilence again yesterday, when rises slightly outnumbered falls and three issues showed particular strength. Few leaders moved, however, and those that did were inclined to fall.

Tasman has been the most impressive issue this week, its 10c gain yesterday bringing its rise for the week so far to 25c. Reid Rubber also continues to climb; with another 10c added yesterday it sold at 320 c, a rise of 17c since last week. Henderson and Pollard was the other 10c mover yesterday when it sold in Auckland at 172 c. Dominion Breweries and K.P. Drug notes each gained 3c, but other leaders fell

marginally, except National Insurance which lost Sc to return to Friday’s price of 440 c. C.F.M. shed another 1c to sell at 164 c, and the rights changed hands 2c down at 60c. The Overseas list was weakened by notable losses for 8.H.P., and C.S.R. Australia, which shed another 25c. E.Z.I. continued its steady climb with a 10c rise. Turnover was up on the day before, and a wide range of issues was traded.
