Radium Found On Dump
(N.Z. Press Assn.-—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 7. A number of children living in two Sydney suburbs have become radioactive after the discovery of a box marked “Radium” on a rubbish dump, according to the State Health Department. Several children in Punchbowl and Riverwood might be unaware that they were radioactive, a departmental spokesman said, adding that three people who had handled the box, found by a youth, had shown positive radioactivity after tests.
The box had apparently been opened and its contents spread by children playing on the dump. The spokesman said there was no cause for alarm.
