WANGANUI WORK
Good Trial By
Umanui
"The Press” Special Service WANGANUI.
Umanui, In a grand trial at Wanganui yesterday, showed that he only needs firm ground to upset the Ta Tlmi Kara Handicap field at Otaki this weekend.
Working on the No. 1 grass, which was cutting out slightly, Umanui (Messent) was shading Fair Kona-1 (Miss Wilkinson) at the end of six in Imln 19 4-ssec. the last -three taking 39 4-fisec. Mias (Miss Jackson) was under a good hold in a threefurlong sprint with Valray (Strawbridge) in 38 3-ssec. Mias, working well towards the outer, looks a good prospect for the hack mile at Trentham today.
