Jumpers Shape Well At Awapuni

A fine exhibition over country by Blue Glare and Jazz King and a sound six furlongs by Banagh were the highlights of training at Awapuni yesterday morning.

Jovial Friar. Palamos and Champion Road, which are to race at Trentham today, were others to work impressively. Blue Glare and Jazz King are rival candidates for the Nepia Winiata Steeplechase at the Otaki meeting. Blue Glare, which has not raced for several months, but is well forward, put in some fine leaps. Jazz King also going fairly well beside him. They finished the school together and gave a first-class display. Grand Coeur jumped three of the steeplechase fences in good style tn preparation for the Newtown Steeples at Trentham today. Our Pal jumped the country well and Syreno and Dtgnus fin ished clear of Rommel over five of the steeplechase fences. Earlier Dingus and Rommel jumped well over four hurdles. Dingus is out of a half-sister to Strydom and shows promise. Jarnac worked two rounds on the plough and ran his last three in 40isec. Later, he jumped two hurdles without blemish. He is ready to race well at Trentham today. On the course proper Jovial Friar went easily to the three furlongs and came home from there tn 38 3-ssec. As he does not usually work so well in training it was a pleasing eUort. Palamos also impressed. He recorded Msec for half a mile and took 37 l-osec for his last three. Palamos has done well

since his race on the first day at Trentham and improvement today is quite likely. Banagh worked attractively to shade Royal Rye over six furlongs in Imin 20 l-ssec, the last three in 38 1-Ssec. Banagh has improved with his race at Woodville and will parade a fit horse for the sprint at Otaki. On the plough Champion Road looked most impressive as he completed three furlongs in 37 3-sfiec. He took no harm from his race on the first day at Tren* tham and should win today.
