MAY DAYS

The merry month of May means many things, to many people. In England, they start writing to the newspapers about the appearance of the first crocus, in Moscow there are rumblings through and from the Red Square, and in Christchurch, A. J. White, Limited, holds its annual May sale. These events are not entirely unrelated. Spring In England is—except where they are trying to play cricket—a season of beauty; the May Day procession must be regarded by Muscovites as evidence of value received; and both these qualities are certainly available to purchasers at A. J. White’s sale, to be held this year from May 9 to May 16, inclusive. Throughout A. J. White's premises, the various departments are preparing with extreme zeal for a wonderful sale, this enterprise and energy being related, perhaps, to the fact that stock taking is scheduled for June, and naturally, the better the sale, the easier the stock taking. That seems to be the main motif, for the reductions are substantial, the quality of the goods in the high traditions of the firm. The May sale presents wonderful opportunities for the Easter brides, still engaged in equipping their homes, and for everyone else. The finest English and Japanese china, the best lines of carpets, including the New Zea-land-made Tweedletwist, dining suites, upholstery, furniture—everywhere in the store, there are goods of superb quality, at heavily reduced prices, to attract the discerning shopper. Advt.
