Bomb Scare; Play Went On
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) WORCESTER. The West Indies and Worcestershire players calmly continued their match yesterday as spectators evacuated their seats during a bomb scare, Associated Press reposted. An anonymous telephone caller told the police three
bombs had been placed round the field. Mr J. Lister, the Worcestershire club secretary, announced the news over loudspeakers and advised the crowd to leave their seats. “It could be a hoax,” he said, “but the police think everybody should leave until a search has been made."
The crowd left; the cricket went on. A dozen policemen and firemen searched the ground and looked in cars parked round the field. They found nothing and after about 45 minutes the spectators were told they could go back to their places.
