Heavy-Weight Pair In Winning Stand

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The South African, A. Greig, featured in a swashbuckling partnership with the England test opener, C. Milburn, at Lord’s yesterday, as the M.C.C. scored a seven-wicket victory over Yorkshire, last season’s county champions.

The 6ft 7in Greig combined with the 16st Milburn to put on 95 runs in 49 minutes as the pair thrashed the Yorkshire attack.

The M.C.C., 48 for two wickets when Greig joined Milburn, faced the task of scoring 188- runs ip 165 minutes. Greig hit his second delivery for four and went on to compile 82 not out in 80 minutes, adding to bis unbeaten half-century the previous day.

The 22-year-old Greig hit four sixes, including one that soared over the Tavern scoreboard into the street beyond.

Milbum’s knock of 82 in 105 minutes included two sixes. Scores were: At Lord's: Yorkshire 250/3 dec. and 132/8 dec. (D. Underwood

5/32) lost to the M.C.C. 195/sdec. and 188/3 (A. Greig 82 not out), by seven wickets. At Oxford: Lancashire 251/8 dec. and 100/2 dec., drew with Oxford University 158 apd 125/5 (F. Goldstein 78). At Cambridge: Cambridge University 80/3 dec. and 49 (D. Halfyard 4/8, C. Forbes 3/10) lost to Nottinghamshire 0/0 dec. and 133/9 (A. Bhattia 4/36), by one wlck<it.
