The Final Count

The final figures for last Sunday’s French referendum show that 52.4 per cent of those voting rejected General dg.Gaulle’s proposals for Senate and regional reforms, and that 80.16 per cent of all registered voters took part. The final figures are: registered, 29,394,456; voting, 23,562,004; abstentions, 5,832,452, or 19.84 per cent; valid votes, 22,910,423; blank or void, 651,581; voting "yes," 10,905,453, or 47.6 per cent of valid votes and 37.05 per cent of the electorate: voting “no," 12,004,970, or 52.4 per cent of valid votes and 40.79 per cent of the electorate.
