Devaluation Imminent’

Dr Ludwig Erhard, the former West German Chancellor, has said he believes the devaluation of the French franc is imminent. Dr Erhard also told reporters in Mendoza, Western Argentina, that he thought Britain and the Scandinavian countries would be able to join the Common Market after the resignation of President de Gaulle. Dr Erhard, who is on a twoweek visit to Argentina, said General de Gaulle had always apposed franc devaluation on grounds of prestige. “But I believe that the devaluation of the franc is imminent,” he said.
