Cheviot Fire Service
Sir, —Your report of a recent meeting of the Cheviot iCounty Council contains reference to the Cheviot Volunteer Fire Brigade which reflects adversely on it. For the record, the brigade asked for hydrants to be located at street corners. It objects to their being located on roadways. The advice of highly qualified fire engineers was passed on to the council in the hope that the county would get good value for money invested in fire protection. If this caused the engineer trouble, the brigade is sorry. However, it has no regrets for trying to have adopted principles of safety, efficiency, and economy in the siting of hydrants.—Yours, etc., R. G. S. NEE. Secretary. Cheviot Volunteer Fire Brigade.
