INVERCARGILL WOOL FIRM

•New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, April 28. I he market at the sixth main Invercargill wool sale of the season today was quoted as inclined in sellers’ favour for ewe fleece, lambs wool and second-shears in the official report.

Some of the oddments, particularly seco n d lambs wool, were up to 5 per cent dearer than at last week’s Christchurch sale.

The offering of 27.150 bales was made up of 45 per cent fleece, 124 per cent lambs. 121

per cent second shear, with the balance in the usual oddments. "The offering of fleece wool opened up showing average colour and fair length and. apart from odd sound lines among the shorn hoggets, was mainly tender." the report says. "Many lines of lambs fleece, which were in the main quite good for colour and length, were spoilt bystrong and in some cases hairy britched wool having been left in. “Lines in which care had been taken in removing these types were keenly sought after. “The selection of second shear wool contained mainly lines of good colour. Other lines were affected by dust and odd lots by shed stain. “Many farmers lots were not as well picked as last | year. “The oddments, particularly bellies and pieces, were showing much more discolouration than they were at earlier sales. “Selling progressed at a brisk rate throughout, the main competition coming from the Continent with American support particularly on shorter length wools.”
