Man Fined For Coffee Lounge Assault

AUCKLAND, April 28. A 25-year-old metal polisher was today convicted and fined a total of $llO on two charges arising from an incident in a city coffee bar on April 20.

Andriga Petrasich pleaded guilty in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court to charges of 1 having with him in the coffee lounge a pocket knife, without lawful authority, and of assault.

Sergeant B. L. Pearce said that at the coffee lounge the accused went to a table, picked up a glass of soft drink and drank it. When the per-

son at the table spoke to him, the accused put a blade against his chest and said: “I am going to take your guts out."

When a constable entered the premises the accused denied using the knife but admitted having possession of it Counsel for Petrasich (Mr A. J. Nixon) said the accused had no previous convictions. He had been in New Zealand for two years. He had had more alcohol than he should have had.

Mr M. L. Morgan. S.M., fined Petrasich $75 with $5 Court costs on the charge of carrying an offensive weapon and $25 with $5 costs on the charge of assault.
