CAR PARK EXTENSION
Football Club Plan Opposed A proposal by the Albion Rugby Football Club to augment car-parking space at its club rooms at Middleton Park by buying a section at 50 Lochee Road was opposed by residents at the Special Town and Country Planning Appeal Board yesterday. Mr T. C. Ewing, 54 Locher Road, and Mr W. Dunn. 48 Lochee Road, complained of noise into the early morning during and after socials at the club rooms, and from the present car-park. Club officials said it was hoped to extend the rooms, and more parking was needed because of the increase in players. They denied that there would be excessive noise after 5 p.m. For residential objectors, Mr A. B. Harman said the section the club wanted had been one of several sold in 1965 by the council with a condition that they be used only for housing. Its buyer a Mr Elliott, had not yet taken title or given the declaration. The application was also opposed by the Waimair j County Council, which hat 1 earlier refused to give the club town-planning approval so as to protect the welfare of Lnchee Road residents. Decision was reserved.
