Table Tennis Has Profitable Year
A profit of $217. as ■ against a loss of almost 8600 the previous year, was made by the Canterbury Table Tennis Association for the year ending Janu- , ary 31. This is revealed by the as-j sociation’s treasurer (Mr Mj A Cox) in the report to bepresented at the annual meeting on March 26. The profit largely resulted from the sum of 3150 which Canterbury received as its share of the proceeds from the national raffle. The increased expenditure was offset by increased revenue from each of the tournaments conducted by the association, and from team entry fees. A profit of $4OO was shown by the association’s cafeteria, with sales rising to more than 52500. The association also made 3100 more from the New Zealand championships last season than when they were last held in Christchurch in 1966. The excess from the national championships was i
|transferred to the hall im-j provements fund. The hall in iSelwyn Street has been considerably improved during the summer. It has been repainted, new curtains and drapes have been hung and additional lighting and heating installed. . For the first time since . 1964, the New Zealand Table Tennis Association has shown [ a profit on its year’s worki ings. ; The excess of income over i expenditure of 3187 is due in the main to an increase of 20 > per cent in affiliation fees . which was authorised at the . last annual meeting. ■ This is contained in the association's thirty-fifth annual report and balance sheet to i! be presented to the annual /meeting in Wellington, bei ginning on Friday. • The general expenses of ! 51717 was only $5 more than /last year. Included in the expenditure is 54116 which has • been transferred to the development fund and over--seas tours fund. The fund has /almost doubled since 1967.
