Test Wanted
A plea for a test to be allocated to Christchurch during future overseas tours of this country was made by Mr W. L. Prendergast (Marist-Western Suburbs) at last evening’s annual general meeting of the Canterbury Rugby league. “Visiting teams like to play where they get the best gates. You guarantee the gate and I’ll get you a test,” said the N.Z.R.L. council delegate (Mr T. J. Wellsmore). Mr Prendergast said that the Show Grounds development committee had given Canterbury the best ground in the country. “We’ll get you the gate. They have to pay at the Show Grounds now—once they just jumped the fence,” he said.
