WELLINGTON, Mar. 19.
The appointment of Mr J. P. Lewin as Government Statistician, to succeed Mr J. V. T. Baker, would be announced tomorrow by the State Services Commission, Government sources said tonight. Mr Lewin, who is 53, is an assistant secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce and is responsible for its industrial development activities and trade practices and prices matters.
Mr Baker is to retire soon and is to practise as a statistics consultant.
