Main Road At Halswell

WELLINGTON, March 19.
The section of the Christ-church-to-Akaroa Highway from its junction with Templeton’s Road to its junction with Lillian Street has been declared a limited access road.
Before it made this decision today, the National Roads Board was told that present traffic counts on this length of 1.2 miles were 4500 vehicles daily. The board asked the Paparua County Council to help in preserving the State highway as an efficient arterial route by designing the subdivisional roading plan to achieve a future wide-road spacing of not less than 40 chains along the highway, and by ensuring that whereever possible all parcels of land had their access from subdivisional roading.
