(N.Z. Press Association)
NELSON, March 18. The condition of the deerstalker who was accidentally shot on Saturday in the Nelson Lakes National Park was said today to be satisfactory. The Nelson Public Hospital said that the man, Brian McEvoy, aged 21, had spent a comfortable night and was improving.
Mr McEvoy was picked up by helicopter on Mount Misery at the head of Lake Rotoroa and was landed on a sports field near the hospital. He came to New Zealand from Northern Ireland only six weeks ago.
