CRICKET QUERY

Committee

Decides

The management committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association met, and overcame, an unusual query it was set last evening. The convenor of the competitions subcommittee, Mr B. G. Hadlee, reported that in a recent lower grade match, the teams were tied at the end of the first innings but one went on to gain an outright decision. The management committee was asked whether the losing side should retain the three points it had gained for finishing in a tie on the first innings and decided that it should. This was the first time such a query had been before the committee in the memory of the chairman, Mr A: G. Williams.

Mr Hadlee also reported difficulty finding pitches for the last round of the season, which will begin on Saturday, because as many as 11 were unavailable. However, he said the committee was indebted to the Suburban association for the use of St Albans Park on the last day and to the University for the use of its pitches at Ham on the first.
