TRIAL OF SIRHAN
Allegation Of “Cribbing”
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LOS ANGELES, March 18. The trial of Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, who is accused of murdering Senator Robert Kennedy, was adjourned for the day to allow the prosecution to prepare fresh evidence.
The prosecution had contended that Dr Martin Schoor a leading defence witness, had “cribbed or copied” parts of his report on the mental condition of Sirhan from “Casebook of a Crime Psychiatrist.” Counsel asked that two chapters of the book, written by a former New York State mental health official, should be placed in evidence in the trial because Schorr's report contained passages almost identical to sections of the book.
With the jury absent, Judge Herbert Walker went through the two chapters, hearing defence objections, and agreed to admit certain pages in evidence.
