Final Favourite Bred In N.Z.

(N.Z. Press Association) ADELAIDE. The localy owned and trained Adios Court, which has ousted Twinkle Hanover for favouritism in the latest markets for the $25,600 Inter-Dominion Championship Grand Final at Wayville on Saturday night, was bred in New Zealand. The pacer has a half-sister which will be offered at the annual yearling sales at Christchurch on March 20. She will possibly become the most sought after filly of the sales if Adios Court wins the Grand Final. A trial by a leggy two-year-old on a rough gravel track in the tiny hamlet of Waterloo Corner, about 15 miles from Adelaide, about three years ago, convinced the owner. Mr E. Helps, he had a possible InterDominion winner in the making. Mr Helps, a wealthy grazier, attended the 1965 Inter-Dominion Championships at Dunedin, and to fill in time during the series went to the annual yearling sales. A leggy youngster caught his eye. but early in the bidding he had no intentions of buying that or any other colt. Mr Helps, however, sat up and took notice when he saw the auctioneers struggling to get a buyer to take the colt for $lBOO.

No other buyer would pay that amount for this Deep Adios —Queen Faye colt so he decided to buy the colt himself. Named Adios Court by Mr Phelps, the colt as a two-year old was given a serious trial by R. Whiting. Sent along the rough gravel track, Adios Court clocked an amazing 2min Bsec mile rate. Adios Court was a racing sensation, but was to be dogged by

bad luck which kept him away from the track for about 12 months.

He got a bad cold and complications set in. leaving him with a muscular complaint.

It did not take Adios Court long to reach his peak when back in training. He has taken his tally of wins to 26i and his greatest triumph may yet be to come.
