Zurich Loses Daily Paper
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ZURICH, Feb. 25. Zurich's second most popular newspaper, the “Neue Presse,” appears for the last time today after little more than a year in print. A joint venture by two other newspapers, the “Tagesanzeiger,” of Zurich, and the “National-Zietung,” of Basle, the “Neue Presse” was launched in November, 1967, to rival the highly-successful picture daily, “Blick,” which has a circulation of about 200,000.
But in a country with one newspaper for every 12,000 people, the “Neue Presse” never managed to reach more than a quarter of Blick’s circulation figure. Last October, another Swiss daily, the old-established “Neue Winterthurer Tagblatt” ceased publication.
