Loburn SheepWorrier
Sir, —Agreed that it was necessary that this dog be hunted and destroyed. It is nonetheless deplored that a creature has to pay with its life for misdeeds traceable to an age-old instinct and brought about by the neglect of its owner. All decentminded people will regret the tragedy of worried sheep, but it was quite unnecessary for the last act In the drama to be shown on television—a dead dog and a smiling group of hunters. Let us hope that those who hunted the dog will now show the same enthusiasm and hunt out the owner who is alone responsible for this unfortunate incident. Will the N.Z.B.C. be so ready with its cameras if the culprit can be found?—Yours, etc., R. J. GLEN. February 24, 1969.
