Vegetable And Fruit Prices

Good supplies of most fruit and vegetables sold well at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday. Fruit was plentiful and sold at slightly lower prices. Apricots were $2 to 93.25 a case last week but their top price this week was 92.50. All varieties ot beans, cucumber, corn and buttercup pumpkins were plentiful and fetched reasonable but easier prices. Buttercup pumpkins have dropped from up to 91 a case to up to 80c a case. Lettuces were notable for their increase. They sold for 20c- tb 91.15 a case last week but now fetched 30c to 91.30 a case.

There were only slight fluctuations in the prices of cooking vegetables. The official range of prices supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Association was: Marrows.—2oc to 40c a case. Silver Beet.—2oc to 50c a case. Beetroot.—3oc to 60c a case. Pumpkins.—soc to 70c a case. Cabbages.—3oc to 00c a case. Carrots.—soc to 91.50 a case. Cauliflowers.—soc to 91 a case. Onions.—9l to 91.40 a sugar bag. Parsnips.—3oc a box. Swedes.—To 91.20 a sugar bag. Spring Onions.—To 50c a dozen bunches. Radishes.—To 50c a dozen bunches. Parsley.—To 7c a bunch. Celery.—Utah, 60c to 91 a case. All Beans.—2oc to, 40c a case. Spinach.—To 91 a case. Cucumbers. —20c to 65c a case. Sweet .Corn.—3oc to 75c a tray. Tomatoes —sc to 18c per lb. Peaches.—Boc to 91.75 a case; to »0c a tray.
