Wind Affects Shooting

(N.Z. Press Auociation) WELLINGTON. An easterly wind affected shooting in the one-day Wellington rifle championships at Trentham yesterday.

M. Camkock (Waipukurau) winner of the Wellington championship and with it the Zelandia Belt, had 188.9 points—the best score for the four rounds.

I. R. Ballinger (Sydenham) scored 49.5 out of a possible 50 for the 300 yards, then a pos-sible-plus of 50.3. A short-range aggregate of 99.8 gave him a two-point lead over his nearest rival, but a disastrous round over 800 yards, where the top 50 was not within his reach and then a mediocre score over the final 900, put paid to his chances.

The B grade championship required a shoot-off after F. Thomas (Onslow) and G. Nichol (Sydenham) had tied. Nichol won with 183.9 points. In the C grade Mrs V. Collins (Onslow) and P. Jermy (Petone) will shoot off today. Petone Gold won the team's shoot with 723 points, Sydenham with 713 was second, and Karori White third with 707.
