England was 174 for seven in its second innings at the close of play on the third day of the first test against Pakistan yesterday. _ Scores: England 306 (M. C. Cowdrey 100, A. Knott 52, J. H. Edrich 54; Intakhab Alam 4/117, Saeed Ahmed 4/64) and 174/7 (K. Fletcher 69 not out); Pakistan 209 (Asif Iqbal 70; J. Cottam 4/50, D. Brown 3/43).
Relieving Duties.— The Nel-son-Wellington coaster Towai which, it was announced earlier this week, would cease its run on March 31, will be used on relieving duties for the rest of the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Company’s fleet.—(P.A.)
