GOING ON A “BENDER”
Effort To Save Local Pub
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) THORNCOMBE (England),
The sober citizens of the village of Thorncombe, in Dorset, have offered to go on an 18-month “bender” to save their local pub, the Golden Lion. But the residents of Thorncombe have asked for a delay, and have promised to increase their beer consumption for the next 18 months. Their reason is that if the Golden Lion closes the nearest pub will be three miles away. «
