BIG DIPPER IS GORE PICK
"The Press" Special Service INVERCARGILL. The former North Island -gal loper, Big Dipper, which wa: successful at Wyndham on Nett Year's Day, will be expected tc win the Charlton Handicap second leg of the double at the Gore Racing Club's meeting to. day. Hardest for him to beat may be the Wingatul-trained Donald Mac, a winner at Omakau, and again at Gore. Waterfront, which has been consistently placed of late, will be another to attract solid support. He will be ridden by the successful Washdyke apprentice, G. R. Heaton, who has also been engaged for Ski, Fond Du Lac, Talison, and Ibn in their engagements today. Capasco will be trying to win his eleventh race in the lasi 16 months in the Gore Cup, the first leg. He appears the logical favourite. The track will be easy.
