Paisley Chief Picked
Paisley Chief, from Waimate, and Radiant Lad, from Ora r i, should be two of the better prospects in the three races for maiden pacers on the first day of the Marlborough Trotting Club’s annual meeting at Waterlea today.
Paisley Chief is engaged only in the Otaki Handicap, the first leg of the on-course concession double. He was runner-up to Moomba at Greymouth on January 4 at his latest start and will have to show very little improvement on that run to win. Forecast, a stablemate of Radiant Lad and Roberta, should be among the hardest for Paisley Chief to beat, while Indian Sign and King Dillon will also be solidly supported. Radiant Lad which is in both the President's Handicap and the Nelson Handicap had not finished further back than fifth in his last four starts. The T.A.B. concession double will be on the Marlborough Cup and the Waterlea Stakes.
Fine weather is forecast and the track will be firm. Selections: Noon. Otakl Handicap: Paisley Chief, Forecast, Roberta. 12.35 p.m. Starborough Handicap: Pacific Star.
