N.Z. In Semi-Finals Of Knock-Out

j (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) : SYDNEY. I New Zealand will oppose six States in the Australasian i cricket knock-out challenge competition during i the 1969-70 season. [The New Zealanders will enter the competition in the semi-final stage.

Other competing teams will be New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia. Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. (The Australian Board of Control and the Interstate Cricket Conference have been exploring for some time the possibility of such a competition based on the highly successful Gillette Cup competition in Britain.

The matches will last one day each, with playing hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The umpires will be empowered to order extra i time if they believe a result can be obtained. Each team will have one Innings limited to 40 overs and a bowler will be permitted a maximum of eight overs. [The competition will include a special award to the player of the match.

Cousins Successful. Two French cousins gained first and second places in the international men’s giant slalom at Adelboden, Switzerland. J. N. Auguert won with an aggregate lime of 3min 20.18 sec, and .1. J. Auguert was second with 3min 21.445ec. It was the season's second event counting, towards the world cup giant! slalom series.
