CHESS TRIP URGED

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. New Zealand should strive to send a team to the next international chess contest in Barcelona in two years, the president of the New Zealand Chess Association (Mr A. S. Hollander) said in Wellington.

Mr Hollander told the association’s annual meeting that devaluation and New Zealand’s economic condition had prevertted a team from attending the last such contest.

Officers elected: President, Mr Hollander: vice-president, Mr A. J. Nyman: secretarytreasurey, Mr P. A. Baldwin; council, Messrs E. B. Stroud, A. L. Wilkinson, R. Feasey, and B. Carpinter. All the officers are from Christchurch.
