FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —A depression far to the northeast of New Zealand is filling up slowly as it moves away to the east; a slow-moving anticyclone extends from the south-east across New Zealand to the central Tasman. Forecast: Canterbury.—Fresh north-easterlies on the coast in the daytime, otherwise winds light and variable; fine; rising day temperatures. Buller, Westland.—Light variable winds in most places; rather cloudy; some drizzle likely morning and night; moderate temperatures. Marlborough, Nelson.—Light to moderate variable winds, north-easterly directions predominating in the day-time; fine; becoming mild this afternoon. Outlook.—All districts: fair.
