Production Up This Year In the first eight months of this year, the German motor industry produced almost two million vehicles, an increase of 30.2 per cent on the production recorded in the first eight months of 1967, and only slightly behind the record production achieved in 1966. There are now about 13 million cars on West German roads, and 180 cars to each 1000 persons, compared with 401 cars to 1000 persons in the United States. This year three of every five cars made in West Germany were exported, and exports last year were worth almost 83000 m. This was 13 per cent of all West German export sales. At present. West German cars are exported to 140 countries.
